Course Map


Dogs are companions and caregivers. We have purple bandanas for all participant dogs. We ask that for everyone’s safety that you keep your dog on a short leash, especially while on the course, be aware of oncoming runners, carry water for your dog, and pick up after your dog.

The trail will be open to the public for walking, running, and biking. Stay to the right

5K Run/walk

This is an out-and-back course, on the Animas River Trail. It begins at the Amphitheatre and heads South, to Rotary Park. There will be musicians and a water station at Rotary Park. You will continue South to the Turnaround Point, and then return on the Animas River Trail to the finish line at the Amphitheatre. This course is fast, and accessible for handicap. Runners and walkers will be on this course.

10K Run

Rough and Rugged. Durango style. This course is for runners only.
The course begins on the Animas River Trail heading south from the Amphitheatre, makes a counter-clockwise loop up to 32nd, back to the start line in front of spectators, and then heads over to Chapman Hill for a loop along the rim for incredible vistas, running down to Rotary Park and returning to the Finish Line at the Amphitheater.

Kids Fun Run

This will be an easy and fun course for kids age 10 and under. It is free. We will have giant bubbles blowing in the air and face painting for all kids.

Mini Sports Expo

The Mini Sports Expo is a post-race event where runners can meet and talk with manufacturers, retailers, dealers, therapists, organizations and clubs that specialize in sports activities, goods, and personal fitness. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about products and services that can enhance their sports experience.

Living Assistance Expo

We will have representatives present who can talk with you about living assistance needs for people whose lives are changing, or the lives of their loved one is changing.

Alzheimer’s Association Durango will be present and offer information on support groups for the caregiver and the Alzheimer’s patient; information on grants; therapy; testing; living options to consider.

Also present will be representatives from Long Term Care facilities in the Durango area, Home Health Care providers, Adult Day Care providers, Palliative Care, and Hospice care providers.

All of these representatives will be most helpful to you in giving definition to what they can offer, and what their services provide.

Silent Auction

Items from local restaurants, retailers, art galleries, wineries, D&SNGRR, massage therapists, Golf for 4 at Dalton Ranch and Hillcrest, and more will be on display for open sheet style, silent bidding.

Silent Auction will open at 9:00 am and close at 11:15 am. Winning bids may be paid in cash, by check or credit card.
